The Best Orange Smoothie Recipe:
A Vitamin C Powerhouse
This is the best orange smoothie recipe I've made yet. And perfect for cold and flu season. I'm pretty sure there's a reason oranges come in season in the colder months. The Vitamin C is a necessary component to our health during the time of year when viruses are circulating.
This yummy orange smoothie is packed with cold-fighting, immune-boosting, fever-supporting, digestive-nurturing, energy-boosting properties, vitamins, and nutrients from being packed with Vitamin C, potassium, fatty acids, folate, magnesium, and more. And it tastes yummy. I personally think it tastes like an Orange Julius. Yum!
It's perfect for a sick kiddo who needs to cool off from a high fever but can't keep any solids down.
- 1 cup of almond milk
- 1 banana
- 2-3 oranges (peeled and seeds removed)
- 2 cups of ice
- 1 tsp homemade vanilla extract
- 1 drop of Wild Orange essential oil (read more below)
- Optional: 1 tsp of maple syrup or honey
I added the Wild Orange essential oil for an added kick of health. Wild Orange EO is a natural antiseptic and tonic, supports digestive issues (such as nausea, diarrhea, etc), and is even anticancer due to its high levels of D-Limonene. Itis an optional ingredient but it's always great to sneak in more value, especially when it's so simple to do so. However I don't suggest using just any brand of essential oil as a dietary supplement. Read more about the importance of quality in essential oils here.
Pop all the ingredients in your favorite blender in the order listed and blend until smooth.
For a yummy summer treat, pour the smoothie into popsicle molds!
