I have a very sensitive belly, so I was always looking for digestive remedies. DigestZen essential oil blend has been the ONLY one to work 100% of the time. It is a mixture of seven potent oils specifically for digestive system issues and ailments.

My husband has long had digestive problems, with a hiatal hernia in his stomach that caused severe reflux, low stomach acid and an inability to digest food (even having fully undigested food in his stomach 12 hours after eating, as found by a doctor).

Very little has helped my husband's stomach pains, which are increased by mental or emotional stress. But the DigestZen essential oil blend from doTERRA, coupled with additional peppermint oil, has helped immensely! In just a couple months he hasn't experienced any pain, has noticed his digestion has increased and he's even lost weight.

Many medical professionals understand the importance of a healthy digestive system. Our stomachs can affect so many things, being the core of our system: hormones, mood and mental stability, complexion, underweight or overweight, excessively oily or dry skin (including things like eczema), growth rates, bone density and more. If we are what we eat, it's just as important that we are able to digest those foods fully, and support our system if we become ill in any manner.

The Oils of DigestZen

  3. Tarragon: Tarragon is said to reduce anorexia, dyspepsia, gas, intestinal spasms, nervous or sluggish digestion, and even urinary tract infections.
  4. Fennel: It's said to be antiparasitic, antiseptic, antispasmodic, antitoxic, diuretic, and an expectorant and is commonly used for benign prostate hyperplasia, gastritis, kidney stones, pancreas support, parasites, toxin cleansing and all manner of digestive support, as well as support the liver function and hormones.
  5. Caraway: Caraway is an antiparasitic and antispasmodic oil known to help with indigestion, gas and colic.
  6. Coriander This oil is said to be analgesic, antibacterial, antifungal, antispasmodic and anti-inflammatory, among other properties. It helps with indigestion, gas, diarrhea, and digestive tract spasms.
  7. Anise: Anise is added to the DigestZen essential oil blend to help calm and strengthen the digestive system.

How to Use DigestZen Essential Oil

Obviously this blend is best used for any sort of digestive problem. You can use it preventatively too. Use the following ideas to inspire the ways you can use it for your own digestive health.

Traditionally, you can use oil of peppermint can be used in three ways. Use these suggestions unless otherwise noted below:
aromatic applicationAromatically - Can be diffused in the air or inhaled directly.
topical applicationTopically - Can be applied directly to the skin or within a carrier oil, such as coconut oil, for young or sensitive skin. Start with one drop to 1-3 tsp of carrier oil and increase as needed.
internal applicationInternally - Generally recognized as safe by the FDA (21CFR182.20) to be used in cooking, adding a drop to purified water or taken as a dietary supplement, diluting 1 drop in 1 tsp. honey or 4 oz of non-acidic, non-dairy beverage (not for children under 6 years old and in greater dilution for older children).
topical applicationNEAT - NEAT means you can generally apply the oil without any dilution, directly to the skin. However, it's always a good idea to patch test your own skin first, just in case.

Precautions: Use caution while pregnant (a single drop rubbed on the outer ear for morning sickness will suffice) and for children. Not for use for people with epilepsy.

Using DigestZeb Topically

Massage into the reflex points of the feet (arches and heal primarily) or into the belly. Use as a hot compress over the stomach and abdomen, or over the chest and throat. Add to bathwater or create a body spray with purified water. You an also dab on a dog's paws to combat parasites (not for cat's though).

Using DigestZen Aromatically

Aromatic uses work just as effectively as inhaling a gas. Diffuse throughout the home as needed. Place several drops in hot water and inhale the steam. Place 1 drop on a small square of fabric and place in the car vents for motion sickness or dab on the shirt collar. Or drop a small amount in your palms and inhale directly.

Using DigestZen Internally

The taste of DigestZen is rather strong, so although you can add it to water or food, you may find (like my husband) that it's not your favorite way to use it. Another option is within capsules or a small bit of honey to mask the strong taste of fennel. Can also be used in a retention enema for treating parasites or candida in the colon.
