Welcome to Sustainable Baby Steps!
Sustainability is a pretty hot topic, but even so (or maybe because of that) I tend to receive the same questions and concerns:
- Does going green really matter?
- It's too expensive to choose green or organic!
- How in the world could I ever make an actual difference?
- And am I going to have to live in a yurt and wear patchouli (or some version of that)?
- But what do I actually do?
Answering these (and other nitty-gritty, how-to) questions again and again is what inspired me to start this site. I believe in organic, holistic living, and yet I totally understand how impossible it can seem to make such important changes in our lives without going nutso (or broke) or feeling overwhelmed, or just not sticking with it because the changes we made couldn't be sustained (the irony of sustainable living). So, I want to show you how you can live a healthier, simpler, and happier life by making easy changes and taking small steps toward greener, more sustainable living. Hence, "sustainable baby steps".
At the same time, I hope to encourage you to also create a life worth sustaining. Cuz otherwise, what's the point?
But where should I start?
Anywhere you feel the most inspired! This website is organized into categories, which you can see above. You can start from the beginning (aptly named "Start Here" because I'm so clever!), jump to any area of interest (Home, Garden, etc), or do a keyword search with the search box up there for anything that's been on your mind. I'd also recommend the 7 Day Treehugger Kickstart, because it rocks and will definitely help you, you know, kickstart things. ;) And here are a few of our popular articles to give you an idea of what you can find here:
I have HUNDREDS more articles full of ideas, tips, strategies, and hacks to guide you to go green, spend wisely, and live a healthier, happier life. And there are always more on the way!
Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has. - Margaret Mead (more quotes here...)
